Prolific and ever-developing, Jon Collin's pieces often begin with guitar but incorporate unconventional production, abstract recording means, or the blending of unlikely sounds for unearthly atmospheres. The two extended halves that make up The Fiddler Now Steps to the Road are similar, with a minimal skeleton that grows almost imperceptibly from scrapes that sound like a creaky gate swaying in the wind to a lush and enveloping quilt of tones. The compositions hover precariously, observing the passing storms without seeking answers or balance.
